I have adjusted The Buried City map to make it easier to run in-game. This is a great dungeon to run that'll add some archeological adventure into your game.
Previously, the first area had too many doors and paths to describe in detail. Now the first area has three stone structures to the right, each with one entrance. To the left of the cave is two narrow passages. The three structures can be explored to find loot, but there is a danger of running into giant scorpions or giant spiders. The narrow pass towards the end of the first area takes you to a four-way intersection. The first path to the right leads to a second large area, (with three doors to the right, and one door to the left). The narrow path straight ahead leads to a former town square, and the door on the left in the intersection leads into a former dojo, which is a great spot to potentially find monk-themed magic items.
The second large area (accessible by the aforementioned intersection) is most notable for the entrance to the bank. The bank's vault is still intact, which will be a perfect place to hide loot for the players to find, but also a wonderful location for an nest of giant scorpions or spiders.
The town square is an area where the players will be able to access multiple buildings for looting. It's also a wonderful place for an encounter with mummies. Towards the back of the area is a smooth stone wall, which once served as the city wall, revealing that the current area is on the outskirts of the buried city. There is also a path accessible through a building in the back that could lead the players to a buried temple, which is the best location to stage the climax of the dungeon. I like to make this temple a buried temple of Gond. The temple entrance is actually through a window in what was once the back of the temple. The temple contains a permanent teleportation circle, which was protected by the earth by the temple's thick walls, as well as a locked chamber to hide a magical item. I like to position a wraith in this temple to serve as a sort of boss, perhaps with some other undead to fight alongside him. This wraith's backstory can play a part in the story of your campaign. Who was the wraith in life? perhaps a person who was sealed away inside the temple when the city was buried, forced to suffer and die alone.
